YURIDISI

Yuridisi had me crying before it even started as the initial stage announcement was made in Tagalog. To experience Filipino theatre in America— not just Filipinos in theatre— but a true embodiment of the filipino spirit in such a unique, comforting, and compelling story was very special to me. Jamie carefully thought of how to perform the traits of a complex, expressive, and independent woman, and that brilliance was received as loud and clear as her character. To have aspects of filipino culture dance, fashion, language, values, family, and overall experience was both spotlighted yet woven so seamlessly into the show. I am impressed at this work and thoughtfulness, and can’t wait to see what other amazing productions she can create!
